Director of Operations – New York City

Reports to: VP of Operations

Salary Range: $140,000–$165,000

Overview

A fast-growing, multi-unit organization is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Operations to oversee and elevate its New York City portfolio. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing performance across multiple business units, and supporting continued growth in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this leader will play a critical role in setting operational strategy, developing teams, and ensuring consistency, efficiency, and strong financial performance across all NYC operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with overall business goals, with a focus on NYC-based operations
• Partner with senior leadership to align on objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and profitability

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop operational leaders and management teams across multiple NYC locations
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, respect, and operational excellence
• Ensure strong training, development, and performance management systems are in place

Process Optimization

• Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings, and workflow improvements
• Implement systems, tools, and processes that drive consistency and scalability
• Establish, track, and act on KPIs to ensure operational success

Financial Oversight

• Oversee operational budgets and resource allocation across NYC businesses
• Analyze financial performance and partner cross-functionally to improve margins and cost effectiveness
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure operations comply with all local, state, and federal regulations
• Develop and enforce policies to mitigate risk and support operational continuity

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with HR, Finance, Marketing, IT, and other departments to ensure alignment and smooth execution
• Serve as a key liaison between NYC operations and the corporate leadership team

Reporting & Communication

• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on performance, initiatives, and challenges
• Prepare operational reports, insights, and recommendations for executive review

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
• Proven experience managing large teams and multi-unit operations
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and performance analysis
• Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Experience operating in a fast-paced, NYC-based environment preferred
• Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management
