Creative and growing experience driven hospitality group is seeking a California based Payroll, Benefits & HR Manager. The Payroll, Benefits & HR Administrator is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and timely processing of payroll, along with administering benefits programs and maintaining HR records. This candidate can be based out of the Greater Los Angeles area or the Greater San Francisco area as they would be primarily remote and only required to be at Irvine/Santa Monica or the San Francisco location one day per week. Candidate must have experience in Texas, Colorado and California as well as familiarity with Dayforce.


Responsibilities:

Payroll administration (primary focus)

• Process weekly payroll for employees across California, Colorado, and Texas, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.

• Apply expert knowledge of California payroll compliance, including overtime, meal/rest break penalties, final pay rules, and wage statement requirements.

• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, shift differentials, and deductions.

• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.

• Maintain payroll documentation and support audits or inquiries.


Benefits administration

• Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans, ensuring timely enrollment, changes, and terminations.

• Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits questions, escalations, and claims assistance.

• Manage COBRA administration for qualifying events, ensuring compliance with all notification, timing, and coverage requirements.

• Ensure compliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), including accurate tracking of eligibility, hours of service, and timely reporting requirements.

• Liaise with benefits carriers and brokers to resolve employee issues and improve service delivery.

• Coordinate annual open enrollment, including system setup in Dayforce, employee communications, and troubleshooting.


HR administration

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in Dayforce.

• Assist with onboarding and offboarding, ensuring payroll and benefits processes are seamless.

• Prepare HR documentation such as offer letters, amendments, and policy acknowledgements.

• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.


Skills, Experience, Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 5+ years in payroll, benefits, and HR administration, with direct payroll processing experience in California, Colorado, and Texas.

• Systems: Advanced proficiency in Dayforce payroll, benefits, and HR modules.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of multi-state payroll requirements, COBRA regulations, and PPACA compliance.

• Skills: Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
