Job Title: Director of Finance – Family Office
Location: Dallas, TX (On-Site)
A growing single family office based in Plano, TX is seeking a detail-oriented, execution-driven Director of Finance to manage the day-to-day financial operations of approximately 8 active entities, with additional entities expected as the portfolio expands. The family office's holdings include a mix of commercial real estate and high-value residential properties, along with operating business interests.
This is a hands-on role responsible for bookkeeping oversight, financial reporting, investment modeling, and cash flow management—including personal financial reporting for the principals. The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced in managing multiple entities in QuickBooks, and confident building and analyzing detailed financial models in Excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting and finance functions across ~8 legal entities, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and maintain personal financial statements and net-worth reports for the principals
- Build and maintain pro forma models, cash flow forecasts, and perform financial analysis on both commercial development projects and residential property investments
- Monitor liquidity needs and manage capital calls and distributions across multiple entities
- Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and bookkeepers on tax filings and compliance
- Produce regular monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including P&Ls, balance sheets, and variance analyses
- Provide financial oversight for commercial real estate development, including tracking construction costs, reviewing project budgets, and maintaining project-level proformas
- Implement and maintain internal controls and financial processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Supervise and review work of internal and external accounting support staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus)
- 5+ years of experience in a finance/accounting role managing multiple entities, preferably in a family office, real estate, or private investment environment
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is required
- Advanced Excel skills, including cash flow modeling, budgeting, and pro forma development
- Familiarity with commercial and high-value residential real estate, including development financing, construction accounting, and property-level financial analysis
- Experience working with external service providers (CPAs, auditors, legal, etc.)
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive financial information
