Position: Assistant General Manager
Classification: Exempt
Reports To: General Manager
Summary:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the daily front-of-house operations and ensures high service standards and efficient restaurant performance. This role is a key partner to the General Manager in supervising teams, optimizing guest experience, and upholding operational procedures.
Requirements:
- 2+ years in a restaurant leadership role (AGM, GM, Hospitality Manager, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Food Handlers Certification (or obtained within one month)
- Proven experience with budgeting, labor and inventory control, payroll, and P&L management
Responsibilities:
Operations & Service
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily operations
- Lead shifts and supervise restaurant functions in GM’s absence
- Ensure compliance with operational standards and health regulations
- Uphold high guest service standards and manage guest relations
- Open/close restaurant and monitor alcohol service compliance
Team Management
- Support hiring, training, and performance management of FOH staff
- Guide team on service execution, menu knowledge, and guest interaction
- Manage shift staffing levels to align with service and financial targets
- Foster a positive and responsive work environment
Knowledge Requirements
- In-depth understanding of food, beverages, wine, and allergens
- Familiarity with POS systems and proper order-taking techniques
- Knowledge of liquor laws and compliance standards
Cleanliness & Supplies
- Conduct pre-shift walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and readiness
- Oversee supply and equipment needs
Administrative Duties
- Participate in departmental meetings and goal setting
- Assist with HR, onboarding, payroll, and reporting tasks
- Manage inventory, place orders, and monitor supply usage
