Executive Chef – Job Description

Overview:
Seeking a dynamic and passionate Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations at a luxury property in Telluride. This role oversees kitchen leadership, team development, and the quality, creativity, and profitability of all food offerings. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a progressive culinary background who can elevate mountain cuisine and enhance the guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead preparation and production of all food service including dining outlets, room service, spa, pool, amenities, and banquets.
- Ensure consistent high quality in ingredients, preparation, and presentation.
- Manage labor and operating costs through effective budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control.
- Hire, train, and develop kitchen staff to maintain exceptional service standards.
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Foster guest relationships through visibility and engagement.
- Collaborate with hotel leadership and support cross-departmental initiatives.
Requirements:
- Culinary degree or certification required.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Experience with budgeting, inventory, and administrative tasks.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as Executive or Executive Sous Chef in a similar scale environment.
- Experience working in mountain or seasonal luxury resort settings.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Calm and confident under pressure.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and lift up to 35 lbs.
