An experienced Business Controller for a popular well knows hospitality group of restaurants is sought to provide strategic financial leadership across a portfolio of restaurants in the United States. This role acts as the key financial partner to General Managers and serves as the first point of contact for all finance-related matters, working closely with a third-party accounting team, internal transaction teams, and a commercial finance support group. The ideal candidate will combine technical financial expertise with strong communication skills, playing a pivotal role in building a sustainable, efficient, and profitable business. Key Responsibilities:
♦ Deliver weekly performance reports and commentary, focusing on leading indicators like business on the books
♦ Prepare timely and accurate month-end reports in accordance with U.S. accounting compliance and internal standards
♦ Compile board-level commentary and insights on financials and KPIs versus forecast, budget, and prior year
♦ Ensure policy and procedural compliance across reporting, audit, and risk mitigation in partnership with head office
♦ Partner with site leaders to produce annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, including relevant commentary
♦ Support the development of five-year strategic plans with operational partners, providing data, analysis, and insights
♦ Deliver cashflow forecasting and ad hoc reporting to support decision-making across the business
♦ Create business cases and investment appraisals for new ventures and expansion opportunities
♦ Oversee capital expenditure tracking in partnership with third-party accountants; conduct post-project appraisals as needed
♦ Lead or assist in financial system maintenance, implementation, and integration projects
♦ Continuously improve financial systems and reporting processes in partnership with internal teams
♦ Liaise with external auditors and provide relevant information during annual audits
♦ Maintain the chart of accounts and oversee insurance data submission and landlord turnover audits
♦ Ensure corporation and sales tax filings are completed by third-party accountants in multiple jurisdictions
♦ Roll out financial policies and procedures across the U.S. in collaboration with the control team
♦ Reconcile balance sheets through collaboration with third-party accounting teams
♦ Partner with system owners (e.g., booking and F&B systems) to ensure accurate data feeds into financial reporting
Additional Duties:
♦ Support restaurant General Managers in achieving financial accountability and performance goals
♦ Provide cross-departmental finance training to enhance organizational financial fluency
Qualifications & Requirements:
♦ CPA, CMA, or CFA certification required
♦ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
♦ Hospitality/restaurant industry accounting experience is highly desirable
♦ Strong understanding of U.S. corporate structuring and transfer pricing
♦ Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
♦ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
♦ Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics (Business Central) and inventory management systems preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
