A destination restaurant in Miami is seeking a Sous Chef with strong kitchen management experience to join a forward-thinking and highly respected culinary team. As Sous Chef, you’ll support the Chef de Cuisine in all back-of-house operations, including leading daily service, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring consistent culinary excellence. You’ll also play a vital role in food cost control, scheduling, hiring, training, vendor relations, and maintaining DOH compliance—all while contributing to a positive and disciplined kitchen culture.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing BOH team, including line cooks, prep cooks, butchers, porters, and polishers
  • Oversee daily execution of prep and service; assist in plating, expediting, and working stations as needed
  • Maintain optimal food and labor cost through detailed forecasting, ordering, scheduling, and waste reduction strategies
  • Ensure compliance with DOH and food safety standards through regular line checks, sanitation practices, and kitchen organization
  • Uphold and instill high standards for presentation, execution, and cleanliness in every dish and station
  • Collaborate with the CDC on new menu items, holiday specials, and large-format or private dining experiences
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of kitchen staff; manage weekly scheduling and performance reviews
  • Cultivate vendor relationships and ensure only the highest-quality ingredients are received and utilized
  • Act as a leader on the floor, motivating the team during peak hours while promoting a culture of respect and excellence


Who You Are:

  • You bring 2–3+ years of kitchen management experience at the Sous Chef level or above
  • Confident with ordering, inventory, food costing, team leadership, and training
  • Detail-oriented and organized with strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Thrive in a high-energy, team-first environment and lead by example
  • Well-versed in kitchen safety, DOH requirements, and compliance protocols
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays (a must)
  • Experience with steakhouse and international cuisine or an eagerness to learn is a plus!
