About the Role:

The Wine Manager will be the operational and cultural leader of our acclaimed wine program. You will manage a high-performing sommelier team, curate and develop a best-in-class wine list, oversee day-to-day beverage operations, maintain the highest standards of service, and ensure seamless integration between front-of-house and culinary operations.

This role requires a strong leader with extensive wine knowledge, service excellence, operational acumen, and a passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

Hospitality Leadership

  • Foster a culture of outstanding hospitality and service excellence across the FOH team.
  • Personally oversee VIP guest experiences, build strong guest relationships, and address feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Act as a key liaison between the service and culinary teams to ensure seamless operations.

Wine Program Development

  • Maintain a comprehensive, organized, and dynamic wine list aligned with the restaurant’s identity.
  • Oversee all aspects of wine purchasing, inventory management, and COGS reporting.
  • Expand or contract wine offerings as needed to maximize revenue and enhance the guest experience.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Beverage to create and execute wine programs, promotions, and special events.
  • Ensure wine service and storage standards are consistently met.
  • Lead ongoing wine education and training programs for the service team.

Operations & Administration

  • Manage daily restaurant administrative tasks including payroll, service planning, POS updates, and compliance.
  • Conduct regular Department of Health walk-throughs, ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Ensure all recipes, service standards, and operational procedures are consistently upheld.

Team Management

  • Hire, train, coach, and inspire the sommelier and FOH hourly team members.
  • Set performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and foster a culture of accountability and professional growth.
  • Develop sommelier schedules and ensure effective labor cost management.
  • Lead by example on the floor and in every guest interaction.

Financial Management

  • Develop sales and profit plans aligned with budgetary goals.
  • Manage wine program profitability by growing sales, controlling costs, and adhering to financial reporting practices.
  • Handle General Ledger management for wine-related financials.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience managing a wine program at a high-end restaurant or hospitality group.
  • Certification such as WSET Level 3, CMS Certified Sommelier, or higher preferred.
  • Exceptional wine knowledge, passion for hospitality, and a dedication to service excellence.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in POS systems, inventory management, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol and able to obtain responsible service certification if not already held.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day).
  • Ability to maneuver stairs and perform duties in fluctuating temperatures.
  • Occasionally travel to visit vendors or attend company-related events.
